F ranklin Pierce student athletes continued to demon- strate a commitment to both academic and athletic excellence. This past spring, 233 student-athletes were named to the 2016 spring semester Athletic Department Honor Roll by posting grade-point averages of 3.3 or higher. Twelve student-athletes garnered perfect 4.0 grade-point av- erages while 16 of the University's 25 varsity squads eclipsed the 3.0 mark. On April 21, the Department of Athletics named Jeanette Wedo as the 14th head coach in the history of the women's basketball program. Wedo has spent the previous six seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Sacred Heart (2010-13) and William & Mary (2013-16). While at William & Mary, Wedo helped guide the Tribe to a Women's Basketball Invitational appearance in 2014-15, the program's first-ever postseason tournament appearance. On May 1, the Department of Ath- letics held its annual Hall of Fame Induction. Inductees were Karissa Hookstadt-Atwood '09 (volleyball), Craig Stewart '05 (volleyball), The Grimshaw- Gudewicz Foundation (contributor), Jennifer Leedham '09 (women's basketball), and Johannah Leedham '10 (women's basketball). For the second consecutive year, the baseball program returned to the Number 1 national ranking in the American Baseball Coaches Associa- tion's national poll, as the Ravens put together a 44-4 regular season. The team went on to host the NCAA Championship East Regional where they won the pro- gram's seventh NCAA Regional title and a trip to the Division II College World Series in Cary, North Carolina. The Ravens saw its season end at the hands of Central Missouri on the third day of the NCAA Championship National Finals. Ravens track & field, now in its fourth season, had a banner campaign both indoors and outdoors in 2015-16. The Ravens combined for 27 All-Northeast-10 selections and 32 All-East Region selections across the indoor and outdoor seasons. Individually, Dage Minors '17 was named East Region Track Athlete of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), while both Minors and Alyssa Lambert '15 earned All-America honors from the USTFCCCA. Lambert is the first member of Frank- lin Pierce's women's team to collect All-America honors for the outdoor season, after being the first to do the same during the indoor campaign. Raven Round Up Victories Franklin Pierce student athletes continued to demonstrate a commitment to both academic and athletic excellence. R ecent Franklin Pierce graduate Mandi Adee '16 made her mark in the world of professional baseball this spring when she was hired as general manager of the New Hampshire Wild, a profes- sional baseball team in the newly formed Empire League. With the hiring, Adee became only the fifth female general manager in the history of pro- fessional baseball, and at the age of 22 , the Kinderhook, New York native is the young- est general manager in profes- sional sports. The first female GM was Lanny Moss of the indepen- dent minor league Portland Mavericks, hired back in 1974. The independent Atlantic League has had two female GMs: Lindsay Rosenberg of the Camden Riversharks and Kristen Simon of the Lancaster Barnstormers. In the ranks of affiliated minor-league base- ball, Shari Massengill served as the general manager of the Kinston Indians, a member of the Class-A Advanced Carolina League from 2005-2010. Adee, who is in the process of completing her MBA in Leadership from Franklin Pierce University, was a stand- out softball player as an un- dergraduate. She ranks 11th in all-time wins (11), 11th in total appearances (51), 11th in all- time strikeouts (111), and 7th in complete games (14) in her ca- reer at Pierce. Additionally, she received the Scholar Athlete Award every year from 2012 to 2015, was on the Dean's List all four years of her college career, and became a member of the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society in 2014.
